Household structure and urban opportunities: Evaluating differences in the accessibility to jobs, education and leisure in São Paulo

Household structure has been recognized as an important element of residential location choice. The aim this work is to understand how the spatial configuration resulting from these choices could cause differentials in terms urban life and opportunities. To do so, a weighted gravitational accessibility index applied São Paulo Metropolitan Area investigate differences among household structures distinct types (jobs, education leisure). results point high disparity between levels, especially jobs. size plays role, with lower levels associated more members household. study shows that composition also impacts on higher deprivation affect single-parent households.
